can you guys enlighten me on this issue. So what you are saying is that you can put a 315,342 ect in a stock 273 carrier without machinening the carrier to fit the new gears with some special part? Is from GM or some other vender? And what do you have to do to reprogram the onbaord computer? And how does this part work? You can E-Mail me with details.
Thanks
You must reprogram the PCM for shift points when replacing the 2.73 or 3.15 gears, and the best way is with LS-1 Edit. If however, you already have a Hypertech or other unit like it, you can "fool" the PCM into accepting the replaced gears, within limits that is.
The part to put the 3.15 or numerically higher gears in is not made by GM....but is available.
