Default No taillights, stoplights and backup lights

Before I spend hours trying to chase this down I figured I see if anyone has come across this problem. A few nights ago I pulled into a parking garage and noticed that everytime I stepped on the brake the driving lights would come on. Thought that was strange. Later on I was told that I didn't have any taillights and then found that the stop and backup lights are also out. I checked all of the fuses and relays but there all good.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Tom

Sorry Tom that is a new one for me. Do you have Euro tail lights? The harness could be loose. Just brainstorming and it looks like I only came up with a light sprinkle.

I had this exact problem with my car. Let me tell you a few other things along with those mentioned that my car was doing also. My cruise control would only work if the head lights was off. Once I turn on the head lights the cruise would disengage. My alarm would go off instantly once set.

I traced the problem to a short in my EURO tail light wiring harness. I would wiggle the harness and the problem would go away only to quickly return. I disconnected the EURO harness, and replugged back in my stock harness only and all issues went away. I tried but could not figure out where the short was at exactly so I replaced the harness with a new one and all is working again.

Look first in your tail light wiring harness and see if that solves your issues. Hard to believe that a small short in one wire would cause so many electrical grimlins. Although people thought it was cool my driving lights would flash when I hit the brakes.

Good luck.

Good idea! You just reminded me of another problem when this started. After parking in the garage I tried to set the alarm but the horn would keep beeping (panic mode). I do have the EURO taillights. I guess it's time to pull the harness and see what's going on back there.

Thanks,
Tom
