Just sold my 98 SS and looking to get a 97-99 c5 this month. Living near ATL all i see is stock sounding vette's driven by 50+(age) men and women. Now there's nothing against that but i want to be set apart with a nice loud/deep rumble on mine. Looking for something less then $350...is that not realistic?
Dude, you're in Powder Springs. I can show you a shipload of loudazz C5's driven by mentally-underdeveloped, emotionally-immature Georgians around here. :smash: Come on by sometime and we'll make you deef. :D
Welcome to the forum. :seeya
Oh, and $350 used is not impossible. I saw a set of Corsa's near that recently.
u might be able to pick up some slp loud mouths in the sale section. every ones always selling those cheap because they cant hack it.:nopity get um. there the loudest pipes out there :yesnod:
350.00 not 600-1000 yes and you will be waking people up  go for the prt or i will sell you my touring for 500 not quiet as loud but they do sound good
..you should have heard my system when I had the Corsa Pace Car cat-backs on it!!! LOUD!!! I have switched to the Touring cat-backs to save my license...
Thanks guys for all the replies. I had the SLP LM on my SS for a short time and it was pretty loud but tolerable.:D Are these on both cars similar in sound?
I had the Loudmouth on my SS and now have them on my Vette. There is a difference in sound but not a major difference. Just a FYI, if you get the Loudmouth, make sure you change your H-pipe to a X-pipe so it will get rid of the back firing sound.
yea im on a really cheap budget, only 18, when it comes to mods. ive always wanted a c5 that was loud and now its actually changing from dream to a realistic option. lol, sorry about the sentimental moment. anyways, for that matter my b-day is this month and im looking to add a little something to the car. every other month, most of the time, i won't have a penny to put in it for aftermarket purposes. right now i just wanna go off my personal ambition. im thinking just a stand alone catback that bolts up to the stock intermediate pipe? any suggestions? thanks in advance.
Welcome to the GA area. Be sure to check out the Peach State Posse forum also. SLP Loudmouth, Borla XR-1, or Borla Stingers are going to be your best options. If you are on a budget and want some additional sound while you sort out what exactly what you want go with the A&A Exhaust bypass mod for your stock exhaust. Come on out to some of the local get togethers. It's always best to hear each system before you buy one.
Next Friday night (the 8th) a lot of the area vette owners are meeting at Hops in Gwinnett for dinner, and there is talk of another Mod Party in the near future. I believe MHFontaine will be installing a SLP LoudMouth system on his C5. Once again welcome.
hey thanks for responding. anyways, i think i might really look into the stock exhaust mod, sounds promising for atleast a little while. i would love to meet some of you guys locally near me and see your diff. setups. when i purchase my c5, which will be very soon hopefully, ill be sure to contact you about meeting schedules and what not if theyre not already posted on the forum. thanks again for your help.
It will be hard to find a new system for $350 or less but you should be able to find a used system for that price. Check out the "for sale" section regularly.
looking in the corvette forum mall i saw the A&A exhaust mod and x-pipe combo. is that x-pipe worth a damn putting on the car?
X-pipes do have their benefits, but you will have to lift the car and unbolt the stock H-pipe. If you are going to to that it's best to change out the cat-back exhaust system also. (especially if you are paying someone) It's better than going under the car twice.
I'd take the money and buy a good aftermarket air intake system instead. You will see (and feel) a better gain from the air intake.
Most CF members would say that the Blackwing is the best to go on a daily driver. If you shop around you can find a blackwing for just under $200 from the CF vendors.
Other intakes to consider are the Vararam series, the one from Halltech, or a K&N FPIK.
