just lowered c5 how long till alignment
i just lowered my 98 with the stock bolts in front screwed all the way up, and in back i cut the bushing down to one with 2 threads left out on bolt. now how long can i drive the car with out hurting my new tires. or how long should i wait to get the car to the body shop to get it lined up? like how many miles?? thanks for any help!! :confused

Well I think its really only to wear out your tires a littl funny, and over a long period of time, maybe other susp. components, but the main reason not to wait is the feel after you get it aligned. World of difference.

First let me say, I just put on my flame suit!!!! I lowered mine on stock bolts about 9 month's ago and DID NOT do an alignment. I have put about 8,000 miles on since and tires are wearing fine, car tracks strait so..... I don't know. Some say do it, some say don't. I have checked around my area and have not found anyone I would trust to do it yet. So you decide, and I am sure you will get many opinions on this.

I lowered my stock suspension '00 coupe, and then drove it for 500 miles before I aligned it. Don't wait that long.
I just put on a new set of Firehawks because the GY's were BALD on the inside tread blocks.
I'd only wait 50 miles or so.

I lowered my 01 in the rear on the stock bolts. I went to have the
alignment checked and it was out. :eek:

two of my previous Vettes I lowered with the stock bolts and did not align, I put about 15,000 miles on each one(approx). No excessive tire wear. My current Z I went with longer bolts and cut the front bushings. I drove it for two weeks then went in for an alignment. The front end guy said it was way out of alignment. :cheers:

If anyone has, please let me know. I don't want to shell out another $75 and risk scratches on my wheels (like they put on my wagon wheels :cuss ) for nothing when I lower mine.

I lowered mine on stock bolts. Waited a couple hundred miles then took it in. It was fine, but they still charged me anyways :mad
I think if you keep the stock bolts you will be alright. But it is a piece of mind.

It wasn't until I took off my stock tires that I saw the front tires were terribly out of alignment. Wore right through to the threads on the inside 2" of the tires with no outward sign of misaligning (pulling one way or another). I guess I would be a candidate to do just this. I've had a recent alignment and need to lower my car... :thumbs:

It will change the alignment. I drove about 300 miles before I realigned it after I was sure I liked it.

I lowered mine to 26 &1/2" in the rear and 26" in the front.....pretty damn low. It's been that way for about 1k miles, the car doesn't pull either way and handles beautifully......I've checked the tires and all seems good. I'm not going to fix "what aint broke." :thumbs:
