I have about 2k coming in the end of this month, and wanted to do more mods...what do you guys think would be best for an everyday driven vette..Many have said gears and TC which whould be the best combo...or should i go with suspensions....Or save the money and get a supercharger or a heads and cam set up..if i save my money i should have enough about
6500$ by october...thanx for the help
H/C, if i were more patient and my warranty were gone, thats what i would do next, still a great daily driver, very reliable, and no added up-keep or worries like with superchargers or turbos. just do a little research and go with a quality name ;)
With 2K you can install a Cam only right now and have lots of power! With your next large chunk of cash I would get wheels, brakes, interior parts and stuff like that.. I would not start adding too many other HP mods as I have learned, the more you do, the more time and money it consumes.
If I had mine to do over again, I think I'd get an ATI supercharger. I've spent about $5K so far in mods for all intake and exhaust, with only nominal power gains (maybe 50-60 HP).
The tradeoff is that the $5K in mods is probably stuff that an average dealership would not say voided my warranty, whereas spending $7K on a supercharger would most definitely void most warrantied items in the car ;-)
If you're thinking heads/cams, $2K will only get you a cam + install + LS1Edit, which could net anywhere from 20 to 50RWHP depending on the cam and whether or not you've had an edit done before. You would PROBABLY be happier getting gears since almost everyone on this forum seems to love theirs (I have not done mine yet).
The only thing about gears is you have to plan your long term goals with your Corvette. If you are only going to mildly mod your car (just about everything up to heads/cams or supercharger/NOS) then 4.10s seem to be the concensus. If you are going to get wild you would probably need a milder gear ratio since you would absolutely ROAST your tires and traction would be an issue.
OORRRRRRRRR you could spend that $6K you have coming up on a full Tiger Shark body package which would not actually make your car faster but would make it look dammmmmnnnn nice!
I have a bone stock A4 3.15 myself. When its time to start major mods, I'm thinking about gears and TC, then later either Heads/Cam or Supercharger. My thinking is that I would like to put what I've already got effectively to the ground first, and later add more to HP to put to the ground.

vetterdstr! How can you say that? :lolg: :lolg: :lolg:

Yeah... it was a moment of insanity.. For those who can afford it... I say GO FOR IT!! In my case, I have now completely replaced EVERY PIECE OF THE ATI KIT to something else or a completey new piece. I am now even having a brand new engine built as well... This hobby is not for the mid to low income people!! :(

For 6500$ your in H/C and SC range. I'd wait. October isn't far off!
I heard that vetterdstr! if a few of us on this forum told what we have spent so far it would not be for the faint of heart---the best bang for the buck I have seen is rear gearing and you shuld be able to get 342 gears pretty reasonably---a friend of mine has a stock zo6 and doesn't want to change much--I suggested a good intake (blackwing etc) LGM LT headers, leave the titanium exhaust, a set of 1.85 roller rockers would give him more cam and throttle response without going into the motor this would give him close to 400rwhp without any serious motor work and after a good dyno tune he would probably pick up 50rwhp--the lower rear gear will feel like another 50rwhp---
