Let me give you some background info first. I had my second battery leak this past May and the acid ate through my AC vacuum lines. Because of this, the only way my car will stay cool is to run the AC on 60 degrees, which is wide open.
On Sunday I was riding around town and about 1 hour into my trip my AC stopped blowing cold air at all. If then started to smell as if my car was running hot, although my oil and coolant temps was fine. I turned the AC off and the smell went away.
Now the AC will not blow cold air and smells like something is burning. Is my compressor burnt up? Any idea what the cost of this repair might be? Guess I will get the vacuum lines replaced when I get AC repaired.
:cry
For me it was my AC compressor which blew up and sent metal throughout the entire AC System. Thought I toasted engine it smelled so bad. Wass running 80 mph for 3 hours last summer in 110 degrees. Had to be flushed 10 times, refilled and new compressor. Warranty paid most, I think cost was like $1,300. Good luck. You may want to cut the AC belt so it does not do more damage. I cut mine b/c it was seized.
I have an appointment with dealer in the morning to repair AC and vacuum lines, I may need to mortgage the house to pay for it.
I believe I am about to pay for my 1Source warranty and then some, although I have a zero deductible I am sure they will do something that will not be covered.
