Really need the Forums help.

Since 7-11-03 I have failed the test five (5) times!
No codes. Car runs strong, no issues with power, starting, etc.
There are three (3) ‘not ready’s’ noted in the test: Evap, and O2’s.
Have driven the car for over 500 miles (attempting to reset the computer) after the following activities:
-All sim’s and 02 sensors have been changed. These activities changed nothing.
-Was told that the thermostat (180) was too low, reset to 195. This did nothing.
I have LGM heads, cam, LS6 intake and headers.
Has anyone had a similar issue (not ready’s)?
Anyone think/know if the PCM could be the cause of my dilemma considering that the car appears to not allow these activities per the computer to activate a ‘ready state’?

Lou tuned and installed the mods. The car is at his shop now. I am looking to see if there is anyone out there that has incurred these types of issues, and what they did to overcome them.
Thanks

Even with the sim and 02 swnsor replacement, the car's computer still say's they are 'not ready'.
I am starting to lean to the PCM as the culprit. But, what do I know
Try searching on OBD in Google, Autotap has a forum page that may be of help.
This is the GM "Driving cycle required to "Ready" the OBD"
http://www.obdii.com/drivecycle.html
I need to keep things simple, I'm easily confused

Thanks for the information. I read the Autotap link re resetting of the OBD II, and also sent ot Lowu (LGM).
MMarquez - can you assist with any links to the LS1Edit which may be related to this matter? Much appreciated if so.

I posted here and on the LS1 Edit mailing list...the consensus says to do the drive cycle routine and it should clear it up...I did it today but still hasn't reset...I will continue to drive it around until they all reset, but only have one more week left till I have to take it back...crap it's good that I'm not the only one with this problem but it sux too. Here's the Drive Cycle Routine:
>To perform an OBD II driving cycle, do the following:
1. Cold Start. In order to be classified as a cold start the engine coolant temperature must be below 120F and within 11F of the ambient air temperature at startup. Do not leave the key on prior to the cold start
or the heated oxygen sensor diagnostic may not run.
2. Idle. The engine must be run for two and a half minutes with the air
conditioner on and rear defroster on. The more electrical load you can
apply the better. This will test the 02 heater, Passive Air, Purge "No Flow",
Misfire and, if closed loop is achieved, Fuel Trim.
3. Accelerate. Turn off the air conditioner and all the other loads and
apply half throttle until88km/hr (55mph) is reached. During this time the
Misfire, Fuel Trim, and Purge Flow diagnostics will be performed.
4. Hold Steady Speed. Hold a steady speed of 88km/hr (55mph) for 3 minutes. During this time the 02 response, Air Intrusive, EGR, Purge, Misfire, and Fuel Trim diagnostics will be performed.
5. Decelerate. Let off the accelerator pedal. Do not shift, touch the brake
or the clutch. It is important to let the vehicle coast along gradually
slowing down to 32km/hr (20 mph). During this time the EGR, Purge and Fuel
Trim diagnostics will be performed.
6. Accelerate. Accelerate at 3/4 throttle until 88-96 km/hr (55-60mph).
This will perform the same diagnostics as in Step 3.
7. Hold Steady Speed. Hold a steady speed of 88km/hr (55mph) for five
minutes. During this time, in addition to the diagnostics performed in Step
4, the catalyst monitor diagnostics will be performed. If the catalyst is
marginal or the battery has been disconnected, it may take 5 complete
driving cycles to determine the state of the catalyst.
8. Decelerate. This will perform the same diagnostics as in Step 5. Again,
don't press the clutch or brakes or shift gears. Do not exceed legal limits performing this test.
Let me know if you get yours working again...I'll let you know if anything changes on my end too...Good Luck!!!
Oh yea...I just went to the OBD II Forum and did a search for the past year and all of the threads I found suggested to do the Drive Cycle and that it'd clear up...if you aren't getting any DTC's then I think it would be pretty safe to say that it just needs to be driven...hope it works...

Also since Carlos jumped into this thread he's fighting the same thing. I would contact him. Also the tuning done for your mod may have some of the diagnostic tests disabled. Check with your tuner. Perhaps you can get ir running well enough to get the OBDII to pass then revert pack to the power tuning.

Luis Carlos, thanks for the information on 'resetting the PCM - OBD II'.
Sent you an e-mail as a follow up, but note that I have placed 500 + miles on the car attempting this reset. Will have LGM try the option you provided and see if it 'works'.
Many Thanks

AC54ME,
Dennis,
I took your car today, into the inspection station where it had been taken before, next to 21st centruy for the recheck. I did this since I did not have an insurance ID card for the car.
Before getting the re-inspection, I went back into your PCM, and found that some of the things have been changed from the way we had them. (ie: someone else had been in the PCM)
I changed them back, and went in for the "Re-inspection" and the car passed with no problems.
So, in summary, you have an inspected car, with our G5 cam and head package in place. I thought something basic was wrong because my car with our G5X-2 cam and head package passed last week with relative ease.
Now, keep in mind that we do not warranty that all GM sensors will work forever, but if they are in working, then we can make them pass an OBDII inspection.
You can call or email me as to when you want to pick up your "PASSED" C5.
Glad to be of assistance.
LG

Well, as usual LGM came through in the crunch, and my personal thanks to the wonderful support your company provides.
I have also notified, via IM, others that IM'd me on this matter, and hopefully they will contact you direct in an endeavor to address their issues.
Your company's performance in this matter is greatly appreciated, and I give to you and your crew the accolades appropriate for addressing my issues.

If you did not get my IM, please send a response to me ASAP.
Thanks,
AC54ME
Lou I sent you an IM...man I hope this fixes everything...I have less than a week left to have it re-inspected.
Carlos
