Default Questions for the C5 Expert

When the two internal panels against the back wall of the C5 are removed (where the courtesy lights are), a gray cap with two vent liners is exposed. Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of this gray cap and advise on how to remove it? Thanks.

I think the non response is because you posted a question for a 'C5 Expert'. I don't think there are any so no one has looked at this. ;)

If im thinking of what you're thinking of, its an "outlet" to make closing the hatch/doors easier as air is pushed thru the car. Sorta like a 1 way valve. Most cars have this. Most are in that area, in the rear of the car in the hatch or trunk.

:iagree:

Why do you want to remove it, this one way valve is also part of the system that keeps fresh air flowing through the car even if you turn off the fan.

It is called a "pressure relief valve" and is designed to equalize the pressure inside the vehicle while moving. It is not large enough to allow a large volume of air to flow out of it, so it does not aid in the closing of the rear hatch. (If you ever want to play a nasty trick on someone, tape it shut. Driving with a window open and this valve taped shut, will make the person think he/she is riding on the outside of a helicopter.) :lolg:
