Wind noise question-need help
I have a C5 coupe and when I go over about 60 mph, the driver side front corner of the window/removable rooftop panel interface has increasing wind noise as you drive faster. Is this normal or do I have an improper seal of the top to the front or side window? I tried removing and re-inserting the top several times and it didn't help. -- Thanks [IMG][/IMG] :banghead:

Check to make sure that the weather strip peices are positioned/fit the same on the driver's side as on the passenger's side. If the pieces don't "lap" correctly you may have noise. You might try applying some silicone grease to the pieces too; believe it or not, this sometimes help stop the noise too. If you are not going to use your car for a long period, it helps to unlatch it to remove the pressure/deflection of the top. Just be sure to latch it before you take off the next time! (Hang a string or ribbon from the latch as a reminder) :yesnod: :)

My car has the same noise, always has since it was new. However, I have taken it to the dealer thrice... Before the first visit to the dealer it made the noise at any speed above 40MPH. Since the first adjustment it only does it at 80MPH plus. The first time they adjusted something, the second time they told me they didnt hear the noise, the third time I rode with them. After telling them it was only at 80MPH plus the dealer said they dont do any test at that speed. I think its just something I will have to live with. I have noticed that if I squeeze the rubber gasket at the seam, it sometimes reduces the noise. I have also noticed that after a trip with the top off at 150MPH+ I can't seem to hear as well.

With the window all the way up, see if you can slip a sheet of paper through the window at the top. If you can, then the tip-in of the window needs to be adjusted. It's not pushing hard enough against the weather stripping at the top.

My '97 is dead quiet, but everything fits snug enough so you can't slip a piece of paper in at any point. There are numberous adjustments available if needed - but a lot of technicians have no clue.
Adjust the latch plate on the windshield header down ~.050", latch in the top, and try it - if it gets better, you know you are on the right track, so lower it some more and try that.
BTW - my '97 latches tight; my neighbor's '01 latches very easily, and he has wind noise.
