Default 1/4 miles times

I was looking at a twin turbo set up, and a heads and cam set up that would get me 550-600 horsepower and 600 torque, i was wondering what that could run in the 1/4 and 0-60? Also other than intake, and exaust what else do i need to upgrade? thanks

TIRES TIRES TIRES!!!!

I took my pretty much stock C5 to the track last week, and although I have good tread on my run-craps, I simply couldn't harness the power. Track conditions stunk, but basically I had to launch at 2300 RPMS or less, or risk baking the tires.

I did wind up getting booted off the track for exceeding the fastest time allowed for a convertible with no roll-bar (I ran a 13.66 against a ZR-1, which got a 13.38...but with much better tires.) Even on the street with nicer pavement I was getting 13.15 on 2400RPM launches with wheelspin.

Basically, you'll also need to upgrade your tranny and clutch. Those will give out around 600HP, especially on drag radials.

And if you expect to actually run at the strip, you'll need a roll bar. (For anything under 13 sec now, I think.)

peffy - good question but not so easy to answer. I agree with Sammy that you will need TIRES - as in MT E.T. Streets or better to harness that kind of horsepower.

It would also help us to know if you have an automatic or a stick. What size differential?

Other variables that will have a DIRECT impact on your e.t. and 60's will be:

Converter stall if an A4
Exhaust system (think about long tube headers, x-pipe, mufflers, and, of course, electric cutouts!)
Suspension setup
ANY other mods you might be considering, all of which leaves a LOT of room for variability.

Having said all that, I would guess that with an optimum setup (including tuning) you could very well wind up running in the high tens or low 11's with stock internals (crank, piston, rods).

If you go the LPE Twin Turbo route will all of the bells and whistles, you could see the 9's.

In any case, you will need at least a 5-point roll-cage once you run 11.99 or quicker and that will be good down to 10.00 seconds. If you get into the 9's, you should invest in a 10-point cage. Make sure it is NHRA certified. Don't ask about price. Just ask yourself what your life is worth to you and you will find a way to afford the cage! :yesnod:

And speaking of stock internals (horrible sequeae!) - you may want to rebuild the bottom end to handle all of that torque!

peffy - this sounds like a GREAT project. I wish I could afford it! Keep us posted! :flag  :hurray:

Gary

Just going to throw a number out there, but with 600 hp, some TIRES at or exceeding ET streets, and with a decent but not expert driver, I would say mid to high 10s all the way up to very low 11s?

Someone slap me if I'm crazy :D

If you are into the drag racing scene you would be better off with a stroker and nitrous, I don't know how quick you wanna run, 11's,10's, or 9's but the nitrous cars are dominating the dragstrip.
