Just my 2c ...I just got a set of the new(er) Goodyears, the GS-D3. My car is lowered 2", so after bangin' around with run-craps for years, these things are like drivin' on pillows ('course so would square concrete blocks). The possibily of a tire going down does have me (and my rockers) a bit concerned though!
I've gotten a lot of compliments on the kick-butt new tread pattern and although not new (but I think for Goodyear?), but these tires have a rim guard too.
I have these tires on my Formula and they are great! Excellent in the rain and great traction off the line at the dragstrip so far (best 60ft has been 1.99)
I've been running them since April and they are Da Bomb! These tires launch so muuch better than the runflats or anything else I've used and are great on wet pavement. I got mine at the Tire Rack, where else? :hurray:
Tires: $834.00
Shipment to Brentwood TN: $46.06
Installation - Gateway Tire, Franklin TN (Includes mounting and inside weight balancing on a Hunter 9700) $60.00
Total: $960.06
EMTs: $1226.00
Shipping: $46.06
Installation: $100.00 ($20.00 more to mount four run craps versus to dismount a set and mount regular tires)
Total: $1372.06
Savings: $412.00 or 22.18 Bottles of Captain Morgan's Parrot Bay Rum :lolg: :hurray:
How'd I get it so low? Check out the Z06 lowering tip here at the forum. The back is easy with bolts, whereas the front needs a pickle fork to take down the control arms, cut off (most) the bushings, and screw the things all the way up (some take 'em out completely).
Not technical, but I compared my car to an identical 98 to mine and the space between the tire and fender was as follows:
Front: ~2-1/8" diff.
Rear: ~2-3/8" diff.
I love looking up at Hondas and don't btm out ever (hardly). Road kill has a new meaning though.
Luv your car too! Been trying to get someone nearby to flame my car, but HD tanks are the rage I guess. No ***** to do a car or something. Uhh, I'm afraid to ask, but those chrome calipers interest me. :hurray: Can you send some numbers (my wife's gonna kill me)?
