Soon I'll be removing the drivetrain to replace the clutch and install 4.10 gears. I am wondering if the solid torque tube bushing is a worthwhile upgrade while it is apart?
Do you really want to pull the drivetrain apart again to put in the $100 bushings? It is well worth the money and piece of mind doing it when you have it apart, instead of 2 months from now when they go bad.

Eric, where did you appropriate this bushing??

I have been running one of these this season, and I must admit that it does not seem to be prolonging the life of my new torque tube. I will probably go back to the stock setup next tube.
3R has had a big improment with the unit, but mine not-so. Also, you will experience more vibration in the car.

Good info Dave. I can see how there would be a lot more vibration since it is solid metal.
The don't fail, although severla people have had the bolt back out/break. In my experience, the bearings inside the torque tubes begin to break down, causing an excessive vibration, with can eventually damage the clutch and pilot bearing.
If you have a torque tube problem, replace the "guts" of the tube with the GM kit. If your bearings have spun inside the housing, then you should replace the entire tube, as the bearings will not re-seat properly.
I blew my Torque tube out this past winter. The bearings inside the tube went south which then destroyed my clutch. I guess we need to start looking into upgrading the TT internals.
