Default Identifying Random Tech Cats

Hi,

I had a shop install a bunch of bolt-ons about a year ago, one of which was supposed to be Random Tech cats. Yesterday I was under the car removing the fog light shrouds, and I could not tell if the cats were stock or Random. I remember the Randoms at the guy's shop had this bright green sticker on the outside and looked pretty big. The cats I saw on mine had no such sticker and didn't look so big.

Is it common to remove the sticker since the cats get so hot to avoid melting of it? Is there any way that I can identify whether or not I have the stock cats or Randoms?

The decals probably fell off, mine did. The RT CATS are only slightly larger than the diameter of the pipes! They are very small. The stock CATS are HUGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to Exhaust and you will see them about half way down the page.

I just got a set of Random Tech cats/x-pipe a few days ago. They do have a large yellow and other colors sticker on each one. I will go a take a look at them when I get home later and see if there is any other identifying marks on them other than is what is on the sticker. They are slightly larger (but way smaller diameter than stock) than the 2 3/4 in. pipe they are attached to.

Thanks guys,

The cats didn't look too big compared to the pipes so it sounds like they are the Randoms indeed. I'll get under there and see if there are any etchings I can find to identify.

I just went under the car... the cats had the following markings:

617322
N/CA/TA
a bunch of other numbers beside them.

They are all brown which looks like it's from heat? The whole assembly between the cats and the headers is brown like it got toasted or something.

Anyone else have similar markings on their cats? Is the browning normal?

I can't see any markings on these other than the Random sticker and a warranty notice. These are about 4 inches in diameter, the pipe being 2 3/4 in dia. I took off my stock cats, pipes and Bassani x-pipe and will put the Ransom system on maybe this weekend when the temp drop below 100! Pretty toasty :reddevil out there this evening.

I just had a set/x-pipe put on last week. They are bronze in color when new and probably turn brown as they age...

Mine are the same color as the pipe, basically silver looking. Looks almost as if the pipe is integral to the cat (which it is not). According to Random, these cats I have are the matrix cats, their latest low restriction design, same as a straight pipe!
