Default Weight difference between FRC and Z06?

What is the weight difference between the two cars? Let's assuming for the sake of argument that the wheels/tires weighed the same. What does the Z06 have over the FRC? Thinner glass, less insulation, and a Ti catback, right? So basically, the weight should be very similar (assuming similar options), right? Anyone know the actual difference between 2 stock cars?

Thanks

Only the 02-03 have the thinner glass. They exhaust probably saves 20lb, then a couple for the glass. Should not be much difference. You do get a more durable short-block, however, even though the old style trans is better for most track events.

Thanks David. Just trying to get some info for my possible Z06 or older FRC with heavy mods buying decision. I know how lightweight will always win. Seems a cheap FRC with mods would be a better and faster deal. Still thinking about it though :)

I went the hardtop way (99). The Z saves an additional .....1 pound by not including the rear cargo pan cover.

If you go with the FRC, you can put a used Z06 cat back on, loose some weight, and get a better sound. The stock Z06 headers are heavier (cast iron) but the Z06 H- pipe is a few pounds lighter, both of which flow better than the ones that come on the FRC. Bottom line is, with the Ti catback there is probably not a big difference in weight.

FYI the Ti exhaust is a 23 pound weight savings over the stock C5 stainless system...
