What all do I need for my head/cam/headers install?
I am taking the car apart tonight to begin the install. What all do I need for the install? I know I will need gaskets, does anyone know where I can get these? What else will I need? Thanks, Kaley?

Since I just finished this job, I'll see if I can help. If you go to the link http://www.ls1howto.com, you will find a nice organized list of things you will need for the job. I called Ken Fitchner Chev, one of the forum vendors, and ordered the gaskets and bolts I needed from them. I also ordered a timing cover gasket and valve cover gaskets, that the website did not list. You'll need a 24mm socket for the crankbolt. I have a 99 and I upgraded to an LS6 oil pump, which have been improved, or for about $165.00 you could get a blueprinted pump. I also went to GM Parts Direct for a C5R performance timing chain. I printed out the directions from the Ls1Howto site and used them during the install. I also upgraded to an LS6 intake, installed headers, and put on an underdrive pully since they have to come off anyway. It's time consuming and alot has to come off the motor to do this job, so I would recommend you take your time and spread the job over three or four sessions to keep fresh. Good luck ! If you need any help e-mail me direct.

Are those the only gaskets I need? Or do i need others? I have the head bolts included w/ the heads. Where do i get a new crank bolt? can i purchase it from a local chevy dealer? Thanks, kaley

Yep head gaskets are teh only new ones you'll need, every other one is reusable. As for the crank bolt just go to a GM service center and ask the parts department for one, they are like $3.00, but do it, i didn't know you had to replace the bolt and my crank pulley fell off while I was driving :mad
