Default Ceramic Pad owners ???

I just installed a set of Delco ceramic brake pads this weekend. Took about 20 firm stops to seat them in and now they are nice and quiet and stop the car well.

I'm wondering about the dust - which is why I changed from the OE pads. I figure they are just seating in, but there's already a lot of dust on the wheels.

Do they stop dusting after the initial break-in period? About how many miles?

Yes, less dust after a few weeks...dust is far less noticable and easier to clean off.

Did you buy from GM? What are the part numbers? I need to replace the pads, turn rotors, & flush fluid on the GF's 98 Pace Car. I was driving hers on a run this weekend and at "speed," the whole car shuddered with mild braking. Thanks.

I believe these are the proper part numbers:

88909667 Durastop-Front, #GM Ceramic Pads
88909668 Durastop-Rear, #GM Ceramic Pads

GMpartsdirect had the cheapest total (after shipping) when I ordered mine.

Yeah, AC/Delco parts. Bought from Fichtner Chevrolet. See Ken's letters forum, then order online or call Bob or Tom on the phone. I'm happy ordering from Fichtner. Some other place might be cheaper, but not by much probably. The quality of service keeps me coming back to Bob and Tom.

The whole set, front and back was $170. I ordered other stuff too and had it sent 3-day, so I'm not sure how the shipping worked out, but it was quite reasonable.

Since they are genuine parts, they come with all the clips, anti-squeal pad, even a tube of caliper lube if you need it.

Very easy to put in really. Took me longer to clean the wheels than to actually change the pads.

I was just wondering about the dust situation, how long it took for them to settle in. I've heard good reports from others and I'm crossing my fingers that mine will break in real quick. Those high-polish wheels are high-maintenance when you have a lot of brake dust.
