What os competative mode driving and how do I get my 98 A4 switched into it? I have tried hold the track assit for 5 sec as someone suggested but nothing indeicated on the dic

 

competitive driving mode shuts off traction control, but leaves active handling on.

Obviously, if you don't have active handling (skid control), you won't have competitive mode.

mine seems to take longer than 5 sec to switch. keeping holding it....if does not come on within 30 minutes, then i would say you don't have it

Competative driving mode started in 1999 - so, 1998 will only have the on-off for the traction control.

This is NOT correct I have a 98 Pace car and it has a competitive driving mode.

 

:nono: :nono: :nono: Active Handling was an option on LATE 98's I should know as I have one :yesnod: it will be labeled next to the traction on/off button. you have to hold the button down for 5 seconds but you MUST be at a complete stop for it to engage. (you can be moving when you first hold it but at the end you must be stopped, for 2001 and up you can hold it while moving) Hope this helps :seeya
