Default First Warrantee Visit

I had to take my 2003 ZO6 to the dealer today for warrantee work.
The foam under the reveal moulding on the left and right side from the windshield worked its way out from under the moulding. On the left it was protruding about 1/4" and on the right is was fully out from under the reveal moulding.
The GM repair person simply cut out the foam!
I looked in the manual to find out how much of a job it would be to remove and replace this moulding and it is a bigger job than you would expect. The inside moulding needs to be removed in order to access the screws to remove the outside moulding.
Therefore, this "repair" might actually be the least intrusive.
However, nobody seems to know if removing this foam adversely affects water intrusion. There are presently no leaks, but it is not clear if this foam keeps water from coming in contact with the window frame.
Has anybody have any experience in this area?

Default Re: First Warrantee Visit (tpocock)

I got emails from 2 corvette certified repair techs. Both pretty much agreed that this foam is not important and does not contribute to water sealing. They pretty much agreed that to remove the moulding to repair the foam would not be worth the risk of additional damage during the repair.
