I just had a new system installed. My old one had the screen go out.
Well, this new one lights up and all, but seems odd. It says "EXT" of a temp. that is definitely wrong. It is at least 80 degrees here and it reads 63 below the "EXT". I also know that the 63 isn't the interior temp, because the car had to be at least 100 inside after sitting in the sun for an hour.
I don't have a manual and wonder if there is a way I have to program the damn thing. Also, the **** on the pass. side doesn't seem to affect the way the air blows over there at all. Is this thing messed up, or is there something I need to do?
Re: Questions about using the dual climate control... (xSSv)
Can't help you on the readout but the **** on the passenger side regulates the temp for the passenger. You have to adjust the vents for airflow and direction.
Re: Questions about using the dual climate control... (Korreck)
I wouldn't be too concerned about the ext temperature gauge not reading accurately. Mines always seems to be bewteen 10 and 15 degrees off, and most people will tell you that theres is not very accurate either.
Re: Questions about using the dual climate control... (xSSv)
I wouldn't be concerned about the temperature reaings indicated .I would be concerned about the performance of the A/C.The temperature outside can change ather rapidly depending on the locale your driving.I would also be suspicious of the accuracy of the temperature readings.I really agree with the gentleman who wrote the gauge is probably off 5-10 degrees. As long as you ar comfortable in the heat, you got it made. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy
Re: Questions about using the dual climate control... (ROD BROWN)
Sounds like it's not working properly. If external temp sensor is disconnected the display should read 57F, so reading anything different sounds like either the sensor is starting to go or a connector could be loose.
The passenger adjust also sounds like it's not working properly.
If you change the temp setting to max cool and then max warm, you should hear the internal actuators and flow doors move.
Try this: disconnect power to the unit (pull fuse) and reconnect power. Turn the key to ON and leave it. The head unit will power up and go through a reinitialization routine that will move all actuator doors to their extreme limits and calibrate these limits. After the unit has stopped initializing (a few minutes at most) check the operation again. If there's still a problem have the dealer/repair shop figure it out.
Re: Questions about using the dual climate control... (xSSv)
When I bought my car, not even the darn salesman knew how the dual-control worked. I didn't notice any difference, and he kept messing around with the controls, turning the compressor on and off like a zillion times. Finally, somebody said the temperature control on the passenger side doesn't work on the extreme settings, due to only a few degrees differential. In other words, the car is at 100º, and you set the temp at 74º; system will go FULL BLAST for a while. Now, going colder does nothing because can't get any colder (full cold already), and going all the way to hot it's only about 10º (max) differential, which means about 84º (74+10), but inside the car is still above that, so nothing happens here either.
Try it when your system stabilizes (running on the freeway), and you'll feel the difference both ways. Again, don't expect much of a difference, but you can certainly feel it.
Finally, the display NEVER tells you inside temp; only outside temp (EXT), and set temp (probably the 60+ you were refering to). And yes, the outside temp is exaggerated on my car too. While being around 98º, the thing reads 105º or so. Unfortunately, can't turn that feature off:mad
So what's the deal with these stupid systems: are all of us going to end up replacing these things? Haven't GM fixed them after SEVEN years? Sheesh.
