I recently broke my cherry and bought a torch red 98 coupe. I had to make some concessions and installed a passenger side airbag cut off so I can take my daughters with me (actually kind of fun to see their faces as the g-force gets them). I installed the switch (purchased at fichtner's) no problem. My problem is this:
I also purchased and installed the console mounted bypass light (a 2000 and on feature) but I the indicator light will not light. I have power up to the the light but no light - is there a resisitor needed for the led or could this be a burned out bulb?
If you hit the LED w/ 12 volts, you've burnt out the LED, as it's only 2 volts. This is exactly what I did :banghead: And, it's damn near impossible to get this LED unless you buy the entire bezel again. So, I removed the burnt out LED, went to Radio Shack and bought a 12 volt LED assembly (cost: $1.98), hooked it up w/ the AB cut off switch wiring and it worked perfectly. :yesnod: Good luck. Bob
P.S. Yes, one must install a resister in the "hot" wire to use the LED provided w/ the bezel if they don't want to burn out the LED.
No photo--sorry. No drilling out the LED needed. Just cut the wires coming out of the LED, then push the LED assembly UP from the bottom and the whole thing will pop out. I think I had to open up the hole another 1/16" to accommidate the LED assembly I bought from Radio Shack. Any addt'l help needed, just ask. Good luck. :) Bob
