Everytime I turn the wheel to the left I get one loud knock, but it only happens one time, each time I turn and it will happen no matter what directions the wheels are pointed. It sounds like it is coming from behind the steering wheel, maybe under the gauges.
The car is a 2001 A4 coupe and only has 3,800 miles on it. Any idea what this noise might be? Thanks for your help.
I've had something similar on my 98 for about a year. On my car it is not loud. I am more likely to feel a slight 'skip' in the steering wheel than hear it. It does not occur everytime I turn the wheel, but when it does occur, it is only when turning the wheel left.
Is there a difference in the sound level between when the engine is running and not running and when the ignition is on or off? On my car, it is loudest and occurs everytime I turn the wheel left when the key is in the RUN position with the engine not running.
An incorrectly performed column lock recall repair??
Never had it done, no need on an 01' A4. Honestly I usually have the music up where I could not hear it but I felt something so I turned the music down and I heard it last time I drove it. I wont be able to check it again until this weekend. Anyone else have this annoying noise?
