Even when my car was stock it had a very small hickup in the idle. Now I have added Votex Cold Air and Bigger MAF ends without the screen and a ported throttle body and a cam and now it bounces from 650 - 800 all the time. It has been programmed to idle at 700 with added air with LS1 edit. I did the relearn at idle and it really didnt help.
Any thoughts or suggestions?
Other than the idle the car runs like a scalded rabbit. I just dont like the needle on the tach bouncing and the bouncing lope. If it can be smoothed out without a 900 rpm idle I will be happy!
I have a 2000 FRC and had the same problem. Last weekend I changed out the wires and plugs in favor of the MSD and the NGK TR55 Iridium plugs. Idle is smooth a 700 rpm and runs great.
6 out of 8 of my plugs were missing their pucks which basically put the gap at the high side of spec if not out of spec. The GM wires are not that good, and in fact one was in really bad shape. Paricularly important to change out to better wires if you are running headers, which I am. They produce a lot of head around the wires.
if you have access to autotap, check your cylinders. Make sure plugs are firing and that all fuel banks are okay. Next, check connections around MAFS. Spray started fluid. If your car surges, then you have a vaccum leak somewhere.
Could be an air/vaccum leak somewhere. If you just installed the TB or other intake components you might want to disconnect the battery for an hour or so and then do a full idle relearn.
