Re: Ported/Polished TBs, What Does.... (Mean Blue Z02)
Mark, I sealed off my port for 2 reasons..
1. I did not want the PCV cutout causing turbulence inside the TB
2. I felt that fast rushing air going past the PCV opening could potentially cause an unwanted vacuum and start sucking oil contaminated air back through the throttle body..
The only reason GM tapped off that spot in the TB was they need "filtered" air to run through the crankcase.. This was the only logical place to put it without the added cost of adding a filter like I did or rerouting the PCV hoses up to the airbox.
Here is an example of the Vacuum..Shaner fills the PCV cavity then drills a hole in it.. ok..
Stick a soda straw in a can of coke.. Then take compessed air and shoot it across the top of the straw...
Coke will immediately be sucked right up the straw and out.. I did not want that to occur at WOT
