i spoke to a local vette manager @ a chevy dealer===he claims forget about 4.10's & go with some sort of ram air system==this guy contradicts everything we have talked about on the forum
Is your vette a 6sp or auto? The cost of these 2 mods are night & day. The gears are awesome in the M6. It's MUCH cheaper to get the cold air setup. You can install them easily(except the vararam) and get good results. The gears are expensive but well worth it. Labor will be expensive & if you have an auto you will need some prgramming to set the trans shift points. If you have the money to do the gears, a cold air intake will seem relatively cheap. I'd do both :D SCOTT

have to have a perfect job--can't drive back & forth from vegas because of mistakes
go with the factory Getrag 3.73. The have a 12K mile warranty and they are the same carrier as the OE. They are very streetable and only turn 2K RPM at 75-80 MPH. If you go higher ratios make sure the shop that does the re-ring is very reputable and will stand behind their work(i.e. warranty etc.) there have been some that have went this route and have ended up with some horrific sounding gears. Just my .02

NEED HELP WITH POLL CHOICES

Ask him to define 'ram air'. No such thing. Go get a set of gears.
I paid $1545 to have Andy install the 4.10's. If you have an auto, I probably wouldn't go over the 3.73's and 3.42's would probably be fine. But for an MN6, I'd definitely go with the 4.10's. I was initially considering 3.90's but Andy talked me into 4.10's and I'm really glad that he did. Like he said, "if you're going to do it, go all the way". It's too much money to be wasting on something less. The 3.73's are not remanufactured gears so I might think that they are better, but there are a number of good shops doing the gear changes without problems, and give a warranty too. If a manual, I just don't think that you are going to be happy with just going to 3.73's.
If we take your mental midget service manager for a ride in a car with a stock airbox vs. one with aftermarket intake, do you think he could feel a seat of the pants difference? Of course not!
Now if we go to 3.73 gears even this guy would probably notice! I'm not saying intake's not worth doing (I'm personally happy with Vararam), just that gears are so much more of a kick in performance.
