How would I do vs a 2001 Viper?
Just met a local guy with a 2001 yellow Viper convert. (I guess the RT10?)
Guy wants to run sometime, said he has a cam and computer chip...(is that even a mod) and he has 600 HP. Now I know there is no way in hell he has 600HP with 2 mods so it is a safe guess that he is around 500 or less with those mods. Do I have any chance from a stop and a slow roll?? Guess we will find out soon, I will let you know... :smash:
by his sig.mods he should have a 11.50 car. with you 3500 t/c and sticky tires if you tree him and drive right he should not catch you in the 1/4. stay away from him on a roll on race they are deadly then. good luck. :chevy
Definitely race him from a stop.
From a roll, driver skill is less a factor than power.
Insist from a stop. This is the only way you stand a chance on beating a car with more power than you. Oh, and brush up on your launching technique.... ;)
Re: How would I do vs a 2001 Viper? (MC TORCH RED)
Besure to keep us posted on the results. I know one A4 that has walked away from two Z06's from a 60 punch and bracket race 6sd Z28,Vettes ,TA & m-stangs that are modded that run mid to low 12s and I have no problems pulling these guys from a roll. The Viper would be hard to deal with from a roll ,even more so with those mods. I wish I could play! :iagree:
I play with an ole' fart (about my age) in a Viper a couple times a month on my way to work. From the light I pull about 4 lengths on him while he's getting his feet to the ground( a whole lotta smoke). From a roll I'm no match. :nonod: Good luck.
no s/c needed, just heads/cam, headers and a good tune and you should kill any dodge viper even the new bs they have out now. if not spray away...
let's see ... he probably knows that you're not familiar with vipers.
most common/likely case is that he just has intake and exhaust bolt-on mods, and lied about the cam and chip, and has more like 410-425 rwhp. it'll come down to the driver in this case.
less likely, but possible, case is that he really has heads, cam, and a Doug Levin Stage 4+ supercharger system putting down 900 rwhp. in this case, you're going to be humiliated. leave your g/f at home.
you'll never know unless you race him though, so make sure to videotape it. post video if you win, and destroy it if you lose. ;)
Of course always comes down to driver, pops has a modded Viper and when he does hook up right he walks me everytime. On the flipside when he misses a shift or takes the revs too high, (does happen to many drivers) I can edge him. Make sure your competition knows he has to run a perfect race (of course put pressure on him) and maybe he'll screw up. With your TC I'd have to lean towards the Vette in the 1/4, should be even from a roll, just make sure you hook up.

This guy is full of poopie(viper guy) First of all yes there is a chip actually two out there in the market. The first is is the mopar performance computer which just adds timimg and spark advance along with raising the rev limiter by 200rpms I believe. The second is the vec1 or vec2 that allows you to play with the timing on the fly. I call bs on this guy cause no Viper owner in thier right mind would just go in and do a cam as you have to pull the heads off the viper to get to the cam  And no cam in the freaking world will give you 100 flywheel hp  With that said he is prob stock or there abouts. Even at stock this Viper would woop your butt from a slow roll :yesnod: I've raced Rob'svette with auto heads/cam all other bolts ons and 3.73s and I beat him both from a dig and from a 50mph roll :D He did get a good jump on me from a dig but I reeled his butt in by 3rd gear and passed him good :reddevil
