Everyone seems to talk about the column lock issue with the C5's. There is a column lock by-pass kit you can buy... why doesn't everyone buy that to cure their problem-- or is it only a 50% cure? Just curious.
I agree...everytime I read about a column lock failure, I ask myself the same question. Why don't people install a CLB??? Alot of these people are long time C5 owners who have been aware of the column lock monster for years. Where have they been----living under a rock???

It is one of those mentalities, it only happens to others and will never going to happen to me.

My column lock has bit me several times here recently. I pull the key wait 10 seconds, and then turn the key to the first position slowly and it has unlocked every time.
With all the Column Lock failures, it shouldn't be up to me (or any vette owner) to buy a part that is obviously fixing their defect. :mad
It is crap I tell you.
Ben...You are 100% correct. The Chevy C5 column lock situation is crap. But, what are your options??? As far as I can tell, only one, install a CLB. One of these days you will not be able the free your column lock and then you'll really be PO'ed :mad Good luck anyway...hope your car will be OK.
