Gas mileage question??????????????????
I took the vette on a 150 mi. trip on the Interstate this weekend. Ran into one spot where there was a wreck and had to slow to 30mph for about 5 min. Also had a spot of heavy rain that slowed me to 45mph for about 15 min. I had the cruise set at anywhere from 68mph to 73mph most of the way and put the pedal half to 3/4 of the way down to pass and play from time to time. My average gas mileage was 23.3mpg. That seems kinda low to me? Does anyone have any idea what I should be getting for mpg? Thanks for the help

I have a 98 Six speed , that gives a better overdrive ratio, on a similar trip I get 25-26. I know alot of people are getting around 30 on the highway but not my car . :seeya

That's not too bad. If I take a longer trip...more like 300 miles...then I can get around 27 mph at normal driving. It doesn't take much to change that a lot though...some slow traffic, etc. but the gas pedal is what usually messes up the average. I'll bet if you tried it again with fairly level terrain and a consistent speed that you will pick up 3-4 mpg.

Actually that sounds about right for a 150 mile trip with some slow driving. I can do a little better than that because the blower makes it a little more efficient (if I keep my foot out of it  ).

I have an A4 and i've never gotten over 24mpg and thats according to the computer, when i do it the old fashioned way its usually closer to 22mpg and it doesn't seem to matter how a drive it :chevy
Re: Gas mileage question?????????????????? (ccajun4real)
If you stopped in the traffic it brings your average way down. For whatever reason when you stop your EPA reads 0.0 miles/gallon, and it uses that number to calculate your milage. I tested this by resetting the milage and for about 2 minutes I was getting 25 mpg, then when I got to a red light you can see your mpg steadily drop. So I figure if you have any stops the mpg on your DIC is pretty much worthless.

I drove from NY to Chicago and back 2000 miles. I started out at 21 mpg and when I got to Chicago it was up to 28 (860 miles) by the time I got back it was up to 30 mpg. I think it takes a long time, like 1000 miles to reach a equalibrium on the highway. 150 miles just isn't long enough to change it much.

I think that is a little low. I made a trip to Tucson (round trip 150) and averaged 28.8. This included about three traffic light stops and a little in town driving. On the interstate I drove at speeds of 75-80. Your Breathless MAF ends with air foil, relocated/recalibrated MAT sensor, Hypertech Power Programmer may be affecting your mileage. I have been checking my mileage lately due to my mods.

After I got the G5X-2 cam installed and the headers, I began my journey home. I stopped once I got on 95N and filled up the car and reset everything. I averaged 38.1 mpg and went 540 miles on that tank of gas. I was on fumes, but I still made it.
I was quite impressed.
