Headers?? TPIS, TTS, something else, what's the difference
So far, i only have a Blackwing intake and Borla Exhaust. My next mod is going to be LT Headers, but as I'm looking around There seem to be a dozen different ones with Prices ranging from $800 to close to $1400. I think i've narrowed it down to TPIS or TTS, so what's the difference and are the TTS headers worth extra money. I would like the most gain in performance that i can get, so if the more expensive ones are better, i'll wait a little longer and save up some more money. Eventually, i'd like to do a Head & Cam package, or a S/C if that makes any difference, but that'll be a while.
Thanks
Edit: it's an MN6
Edit 2: okay, here's what I have so far. The LGMs are the best that I could buy, but they're extremely expensive. The TPIS headers are good, but I'd lose a little low end torque.
What seems like the best deal are the TTS headers. a little more expensive than the TPIS headers, but not as much as the LGMs & you don't lose low end torque like the TPIS Headers.
Re: Headers?? TPIS, TTS, something else, what's the difference (Lancer033)
I found a used set of TTS for $500 shipped.
Since the new hype of LG motorsports, there is going to be a flood of TPIS, TTS, FLP, etc on the market. I'd just go for a used set, unless you HAVE to have the extra 10 hp for $1500.
Unless you are building a track car I don't think you will get a whole lot of extra power that is noticable with daily driving with the bigger headers. But if money is no object, id probably go with the new LG headers since everyone is swearing by them now just to be cool.

Plan your mods - I was just told on a Magason SC car you don't need headers? as it needs the backpresure ???? For what it is worth I would only do headers AFTER I did a H\C package or at same time - stock car not really worth it. JMHO

I'll look into that. It'll be a long time before I'm able to save up that much money, so If that's accurate It could just go back to stock at that time and sell whatever headers I've got.

Huh? Superchargers greatly benifit from any increase in flow on the exhaust side.
Back to topic. I went with TTS headers, got around 24hp and 20 tq at the rear wheel increase, no tuning. The TTS's smaller primaries help out low end torque and do provide a good all around gain. The TPIS if your car is an auto will show a slight drop in low end torque, but you'll see it's gains at the upper hp side. :steering:
Re: Headers?? TPIS, TTS, something else, what's the difference (Lancer033)
I have a set of TPIS on my car now. I put the headers on before the H/C package and FELT little to moderate gain on stock components (I never dynoed the car). After I did LGM G5 package there was a huge gain with LT headers. However on the dyno my low end TQ wasn't where I wanted it to be because of the headers. I am going to sell my TPIS soon and upgrade to LGM headers so I can recover my low end TQ and hopefully bump it from 390 RWTQ to 420ish.. :yesnod:
IMO headers are worth the $$ even if you don't plan to upgrade your motor. If you do H/C then spend the extra cash and get the LGM's. If not, then go for a cheaper good quality set.
