Default Head Studs

I am in the process of putting together an engine and a book I bought says that the factory bolts should be replaced with heavy duty head studs becasue of the "stretch factor" of the orignal ones. When pricing the ARP head studs I came up with a price in excess of $300 for them. This seem like overkill to me considering the price. This is s stock motor. Any opinions?

I put the ARP head studs on my heads/cam motor and so happy I did because I had the heads off a few times due to incompatible Cometic gaskets and 5.3L heads (subject of a previous post). They're definitely not required for a stock motor. I think I'd think twice about adding those as well. Actually, I got them for much less when I bought my h/c package. Here they are on a C5R shortblock.

Edit: BTW, if you saw how these were made, you'd understand why they cost so much. They are machined out of excellent stock, hardened and then the threads are rolled before oxiding. ARP makes primo stuff.
