Guys anyone have a link with pix on white faced gage install as far as tape pattern/how much to use? I did an archive search but the link I found wont work......I would rather go over board with tape then have to deal with stickin pins or peeling up......advice? input?
You don't need alot of tape at all. Maybe two or three small pieces just to hold the field of the overlay snug to the existing gauge. I cut small squares from the strips provided and placed them on the existing gauge in areas where there wasn't any numbers or backlit trouble lights. the perimeter of the overlay will be held snug to the existing gauge by the cover plate. You will see what I mean when you get everything tore apart to do the install. A additional bit of advice, if you are even remotely considering installing the aluminum bezels this is the time to do it! LAPD has them on sale for $89.00 plus shipping and they look wicked installed with the white face overlays, especially at night. I highly recommend this give the gauges that extra final touch.
Thanks bud.....I got the bezels from Shawn as well as the white faced..been playing with digital pics of what combo looks best...lol
So if not much tape is used....what has all the fuss been in various threads with the overlays gettin in the way of the needles, peeling up, etc????
Don't know what the fuss is, have had mine installed for 6 months and no problems, if you are worried about the gauge needle getting stuck put a small square of the tape close to the center hole on each gauge, this should keep the overlay tight to the existing gauge face and eliminate any contact with the needle.
