I have a 99 Roadster that will occasionally not start. You turn the key and it is dead. The battery is good and after a few tries it will start.
I get the following fault codes.
B2721 Pass-Key Detectopm Circuit
P1631 Theft Deterrent System Password Incorrect-C
U1016 Loss of Communications with PCM
U1064 Loss of Communications with DCM
U1096 Loss of Communications with IPC
Can anyone help me
1 - The resistor on your key is either slightly damaged or dirty/corroded to the point where it isn't reading as the proper resistance any more. Try using the other key for a while to see if the problem goes away. BTW, your car WILL NOT start for 3 minutes after you get the B2721 code, and every time you try again it just restarts the 3 minutes.
2 - Since you got all of the loss of coms codes, there might be a loose connector somewhere, probably under the steering wheel. Have you recently installed a CLB or anything else that would have had you messing with connectors anywhere inside the car?
If you figure it out, let us know what the problem was.
Another possibility is the wiring harness under the console. My '98 wouldn't start when the console was on but would start when it was removed; I retaped the wiring harness in that area and made sure the wires were off to the right of the cup holdern so the console wouldn't pinch them.
