I have a 99 FRC 6spd with a few minor mods: Blackwing, LS6 intake, and GHL exhaust w/ crossover. Would I see any power gains with reprogramming the PCM? If so, how much?

You won't know until you do it. It depends on how close your settings are now to what they should be. Just timing can make a big difference. Do a dyno tune.

For my almost stock setup, I don't want to spend $1k on LS1 Edit plus dyno time. I was thinking more along the lines of a Diablo Predator or Hypertech programmer.

Now this is just my opinion. They wouldn't be worth the money. You need a tuner and a dyno.

MTI and 21st century charge $500 or less for a dyno tune specific to your automobile. Hypertech is generic junk compared to a professional dyno tune.
As for HP/Tq gains, just depends on your mods and how far from optimum your PCM variables are.

A full LS1-Edit on a mostly stock car is good for maybe five rwhp according to two local performance shops I spoke with recently on this subject. Save your $500.00 for something else.

The going rate at KPC in S. Florida is $500 dyno LS1 Edit. The bonus is the fans and 1-4 skip removal, etc.
Average tunes out here get 15-20+ hp. It is a must do mod. My friend with intake and exhaust gained 20 RWHP & TRQ, and another guy gain 40+ with FLP's and a tune.
People spend more money on airfilters that "give" them 40 hp :lolg:
Re: PCM reprogramming, will I get more HP? (connellyh)
With your current mods I would not do it. I only spent 350 on my tune and wish now I would have spent it on another mod. Now I am no expert but from what I understand it all depends on your car, mods and how your car reacts to the mods. My car did not show an increase after the tune. My mods from stock to tune, where Blackwing, headers, exhaust, 3.42's, and TQ. Again I just wish someone would have told me that I may gain only 5 hp, which would have made me think twice about spending the money on a tune. I was expecting the 15-20 that most have posted. Hope this helps. Again i am new to all this and just sharing my story.

David,
Problem is we don't know his engine status. So it's impossible to determine what if any gain he would get. It may be running on 7 cylinders. He needs to just do it. Forget about added HP and start thinking about engine efficiancy.
