Cyrogenic,,,,,like in liquid nitrogen???? That would certainly provide cold air. I would be concerned about the effects from the extreme cold on the intake parts.......... :D :D :D :D
Looks like you can spray it on your intercoolers. That seems like a workable idea, but cooling the air intake? Isnt that kind of like putting an ice pack around the nozzle of a garden hose? Does the water coming out of the hose instantly get cold? I dunno, haven't tried it, but my thought experiment hypothesis leans toward no. Also a big V8 engine is moving a lot of air. Is that air in the intake long enough to cool? The cooling chamber for this system doesn't look very effective, but who knows?
I have seen a lot of ricers use setups like this. I think it woul dbe somwhat effective at coolin gthe intake temp of 1.7L motor. Any motor larger would not see anything.
Interesting idea, but not very much info on the website.
I would wonder whether they have a model that will flow enough for an LS1. It sounds like they force the intake air into a tube that contains the special bulb - if this tube/bulb does not flow enough CFM, any thermal benefits would be wiped out.
Also, because it's CO2 powered, it works much like nitrous - you only cool at WOT. If you're gonna do this, you might as well install a nitrous system - probably costs the same and gives far more power.
A local tuner I no said they installed one of these systems on a car and it made no hp gain. He also said it was a pain in the butt to put on a vette. His company was working on a system that would cool better and make more hp. It should be out late this year.
