I blew my differential a couple weeks ago. I have the car in the garage up on stands and have the rear end tore down far enough to be ready to attempt to lower the girdle.
1. Do i have to remove the shifter (M6) in order to lower the rear end/trans?
2. If I end up having to pull the trans out of the car all the way (if the output shaft is broke) will i be able to disconnect the shifting linkage from underneath?
3. Can I simply disconnect the torque tube from the clutch bellhousing and slide it out from the clutch assy?
Any other input is certainly welcome. Thanks, guys!!
Re: Removing my blown diff and trans, have a question (rwj383)
No, you don't have to disconnect the shift linkage if you are not pulling the trans. If you do pull the trans you probably need to disconnect the shift rod at the shifter box and pull the trans and tube together. You can pull the tube out of the clutch assy. There are 5 or 6 bolts the hold the tube to the bellhousing, unbolt those and carefully pull the tube out. You might be able to disconnect the shift linkage from underneath, I haven't tried it yet. Good luck. Andy
