Driver's side hot AC........revisted HELP!!!!!!!!!
Okay.....
I tried everyhting. I recharged the system after pulling a 30 minute vacuum...just for peace of mind.
Tha passenger side is ICE cold, and the drivers side works at idle. Anytime I go into gear it gets warm......ambient warm:(
I look at the air mixture motor and it is opening and shutting all the way (is there 2 or just one?)
Either way it is not vacuum as the temperature is contrlled electronically and the actual doors are that move the air (modes) from floor to dash, etc...are vacuum. However, my problem is in the temperature......
I can idle in a parking lot for 10 minutes or so and the AC is working once start driving down a road it gets warm, and doesn't get cold again unless I sit at a long red light!
Someone please help. You have no idea what it is like driving in a high dollar car without AC:(
I can take it to the dealer but that is my last resort!
I have a 2001 Z06 with dual climate control! (out of warranty:()

If you have the Dual Zone unit, the airflow and temperature mix doors are controlled by electronical actuator motors, not vacuum. And there are 2 doors for the temp mix - Left and Right - which allows you to contol the two zones.
Since you're getting cold air at idle, the A/C system looks like it's working, so the problem could be with the additional sensors. You have 3 sensors that affect the air temperature:
- Interior Ambient Temp Sensor (right next to the ignition)
- Outside Air Temp Sensor (Located at the bottom of the front bumper/radiator cavity on the passenger side of the cavity).
- Sun Load Sensor (on the top of the dash at one end of the windshield vent grill).
If you set the temp to Min (i.e. 60 F) and this problem still occurs, my guess would be one of the sensors is the culprit.
The Outside Air Sensor is easy since your display would tell you if it is sending an incorrect temperature value. That leaves the Sun Load or Inside Air, and I would guess your Inside Air Temp Sensor is providing such a low temperature reading that the system is trying to compensate by raising the airflow temp.
Re: Driver's side hot AC........revisted HELP!!!!!!!!! (z0sense)
What JC said make perfect sense.
But a Volvo I had, when WOT, the AC would basically cut off to allow maximum acceleratation. I'm not sure if the Vettes to this, but I have noticed that when I WOT the C5, the AC is not as cold until I get to cruising speed. So if the C5 actually has this capability, then maybe it has something to do with that.

I have replaced many left side temp actuators but never had to replace a right side... Faulty left sides are common :yesnod:
You may want to hook up a set of gauges and monitor high and low side pressures. If the pressures begin to equalize when the A/C gets warm (and the compressor is engaged),you have a compressor problem :yesnod:
Re: Driver's side hot AC........revisted HELP!!!!!!!!! (Turbo5)
I have the same problem, looks like I neeed a new left side actuator. How much did gm/dealer charge you to replace this item? Need to start saving on my part.
Re: Driver's side hot AC........revisted HELP!!!!!!!!! (MikeP)
I have extended warranty insurance. I got by with only $200. I believe the whole job was a big spanking $600! I hope you got insurance or it is still in warranty.
Re: Driver's side hot AC........revisted HELP!!!!!!!!! (Turbo5)
Left side door motor is the same part number as the right.
They are 108.00/ea. and the left is extremely simple to fix!!!!!!! Would take about 15 minutes.
I pulled mine out thinking that was the problem. Turns out I was not getting enough air across the condensor and that is what kept my car from getting cool on the drivers side!!!!!!
Problem has been solved. I must also say that I am an expert on c5 AC now:)
