When I manually shift my A4 through the gears, it does fine from 1st - 2nd, and from 3rd - 4th, but it hesitates for a couple of seconds after I make the shift from 2nd - 3rd before the transmission responds. I've tried it at different speeds and RPM's, each with the same results. It is a '98 model with 48,000 miles. Any thoughts on what this might be or how to tell if it is the start of a more serious problem? Thanks in advance.
 :(
My 97' A4 does the same thing on 2-3 shift if I try to shift it manually, if I leave it in 3rd it does fine. BTW my A4 is a new Rossler unit so I'm sure it is good. They do the trans in the 8sec LPE TT car. If you don't like your shift points then I would get a quicky LS1 edit change to put the shift where you want it, we generally do this type of change for $100 so hopefully you can find someone in your area that can do the same, or just buy edit yourself. ;)
Thanks for the info. As long as it's not a problem with the tans itself I'll probably just leave it. I just wanted to make sure it wasn't something to cause concern.
My A4 also seems like it needs to think about the shift before it complets the shift. My reason for manualy shifting is in a street racing situation you might only get the chance to run from a role and if count on the a4 to down to low when you you need it you will lose. If i don't shift at exactly 5800 rpm it will hit the limiter. It complets the shift at 6100 rpm. Would like an edit but havn't found a local person yet.
The shift delay does not occur in drive with the car shifting on it's own. I don't manually shift very often but on occassion I do it if for no other reason than to turn a few more heads from a stand still. I don't race my car but I do like to remind myself, and anyone else who might be curious, what the car will do if I really want her to!
