Default My Complete HUD Install Write-up

Here's my write-up to help those considering installing HUD in their non HUD cars. I installed mine off the information found in the Tech section but felt it could use a little more detail. I'm also working on visual instructions and part numbers (Thanks to PACETHIS) to build the 11 Pin cable. More to come. Enjoy!

Very nice write up. I wish you had done this about 2 months ago :D
Of course the pain is making the harness. Which I had to do. Finding all the parts was of course even more of a pain. If you know a good source for the plug and the wire crimps made to go into the plug ends that would be good info to share.

Having an '01 I have HUD, but I'm curious about one thing. I thought the windshield was different on the cars that had HUD, that is thicker and different between the layers for the HUD to reflect off of it. Does it still display correctly on the windshield of a non-HUD car after the installation?

Very good HurricaneZ. I wonder if there really is any difference in the windshield after all ? I read or heard somewhere that to replace the windshield on a C5 with the HUD is high $$$$ compared to the windshield on a non_HUD C5. Must be :bs !

There is a difference however no enough to justify replacng the window. If anything ever happens to my window my insurance can pick up the cost of the HUD windshield. They sell on Ebay for less than $400
