This is definitely a toy every 'vette owner needs. I just received my G-Timer 1 and love it. It was only $150 and measures your 0-30,40,50,60,70,80,90 & 100 times, 1/4 mile, 1000ft & 1/8 mile. It can also calculate the HP if you enter car weight & a few other variables, but don't know how much I trust that. It is well worth it for the 0-60 alone!!! I ended my 1st 0-60 run in 5.17 seconds (left in OD, slightly uphill with traction control on - I was just too excited to try it out). After I calmed down and got into race mode my best 0-60 was 4.20 seconds! I only had 1 1/4 mile run that I didn't even know I was doing - 12.95 @ 107 mph. Passport claims that this thing is extremely accurate. I know the mph, cause I was watching the HUD to see top speed, which this unit records also. Anyone have any good/bad experiences with this G-TIMER?
I have the GII and love it; everyday is track day. What set-up do you have that you are running 4.2 to 60? What are your roll and pitch settings? These will influence the accuracy of your times. From what I understand the best settings are 3.0 and 1.6 (roll & pitch)
I'll have to check my settings - they are stock right now. I thought I read that the roll & pitch only had to be changed for the HP calculations. My car is also lowered an inch so I wonder if that effects the "stiffnes" - I'd think it would. I was so excited I read it very fast, but I will go back. As far as my setup, it's in myprofile - basically all the bolt-ons from Vara-Ram to headers, to programming to Borla! Thanks for the feedback, I will definitely check into it.
The pitch & roll affect times and are not a part of the HP calculations- I remeber a thread in the forum where a fellow was telling me he had to play with the pitch and roll to get the times to match his track times. He was using 1.8 and 3.0; I'm getting a new suspension set-up so I will try 1.6 and 2.6 (the effect of these changes on time is in the manual). Obviously the best way to adjust this is at the track.
I am getting a similar set-up to yours, haven't run the car yet, I'm excited, I hope to get to 4.0 flat, my best time right now w/o headers and intake is 4.3 secs to 60 and 9.5 secs to 100, 1/4 @ 12.72 /112 MPH
