Default Gauage Cluster

I am in the process of swaping a Z/06 cluster to my 00vert. All I need to swap is the speedometer and tach faceplate, to my cluster. To remove the gauge needles do you need a special tool or can you use a screwdriver, is there any problems I need to be concerned when removing the gauage needles?

The tach and speedo faces are bonded to the guage itself -- why not just swap the individual tach and speedo into your cluster?

It would be safer to move each gauge . :steering:

Thanks for the inputs I did not know you can move each individual gauage. The needles like like they could be a problem.

You don’t need to move the Gauges at all...

If your going to just replace the elcronics and you don’t need to pull the switch bezel or plastic skip steps 1-3

The cluster consists of:
From the Front – Back

1) The Black Bezel (Holds the Fuel buttons to the right Dimmer/HUD Switch to the left if equipped)
Remove the 6 T15 screws in the rear of the cluster while disconnecting connectors

2) The Clear cover, which just snaps off after the bezel is removed.

3) The Black gauge bezel that sits against the gauge faces themselves, this can only be moved 1/4" or so because the lights are attached and you must now flip the cluster.

4) Remove/disconnect the ballast box 4 Phillips screws, pop off the plastic raceways

5) Remove the four Phillips screws surrounding the rear white plastic cover, realease the taps and remove.

6) Remove 2 Phillips screws holding the little board on the left side opposite of the speaker.

7)) Remove the 2 Phillips screws holding the speaker down.

8) Now straight down at the top of the cluster and electronics and you will see 3 ribbon cables. You will need to take a screw driver or similar and pop the corner tabs to unlock the ribbon cables.

You are now ready to swap all the electronics with your old cluster.

Reconnect everything and reinstall.

I hope this helps for now, I’m getting my pictures together right now, I’ll have the write-up available in a few hours.
