Has anyone out there installed the ACI rocker panel with the brake duct? I know this will require some body work, ie cutting the rockers and painting. I do have some experience doing this kind of work, but I was wondering how this installation went for you. I know this is not the kind of install for the average Joe Blow, no offense to you Joe, but I would like to hear from any of you body shop guys that could give me a heads up on this install. THANKS
This will be my winter project. ACI will be at the Chevy Vette fest in Chicago in November and my plan is to purchase from them and pick it up at the show. :smash:
I just bought a set....they are on GP here on the Forum. I talked to ACI, they said anyone with basic body shop experience can install them. I really like the look.
I got them on the group purchase and had them installed on my 2000 Hardtop by a very reputable Corvette Body shop. It was the second set he has done, and they look awesome. As soon as I can borrow a digital camera I will be posting the pics. They are not the easiest things to install however. The body shop took five hours a side to install them, and then another two hours a side in the paint booth, so I think it is quite a reach to say that "anybody" with basic body shop skills could install them. The rockers and ducts themselves are fiberglass, but the stock rockers that they are attached and molded into are SMC, so you have to really know what you are doing to get a good finished product. The ducts themselves are very easy to install, so I did them myself in about 30 minutes each and only require about a 2" cut-out in the back of the fender skirt that you can't even see. I would highly recommend them, but they are very costly especially compared to the stock Z06 ducts or the BPP ducts, but I guess you get what you pay for... :yesnod:
