Any performance gain adding a Magnaflow X-Pipe ? [ xpipe x/pipe flowmaster ]
Is there any performance gain in adding a Magnaflow X-Pipe to a C5 with my mods. I have Flowmasters, BTW. I am adding the Magnaflow to decrease popping on deceleration, but, any a performance add would be that much nicer.
Re: Any performance gain adding a Magnaflow X-Pipe ?
X-pipes DO increase horsepower which is why they are used on every NASCAR race car.
Here's a link to an article from the MagnaFlow web site regarding this. MagnaFlow picked up 7.4 rwhp and 8 ft-lbs rwtq in a head-to-head H vs X dyno test conducted on a '99 Mustang GT. http://www.magnaflow.com/05news/magazine/05racepgs.htm
Re: Any performance gain adding a Magnaflow X-Pipe ?
I installed a GHL exhaust system in conjunction with a Magnaflow X-Pipe.I didn't feel any SOP performance, but my car sounds the way a Vette should sound. If you are in search of some additonal power,I would put on a intake system of your choice. The X-pipe will make your exhaust sound better and thats about all I got from the X-pipe. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy

Detroit Speed Works http://www.detroitspeedworks.com/ installed my x-pipe on Thursday. My car feels much faster now, however, that probably has more to do with the temperature dropping into the 60s than adding an x-pipe. My car sounds much better with the x-pipe installed and I would highly recommend it for that reason alone.

It will help, especially with your performance hood seal. :jester :jester
No h.p. to be picked up on a basic stock car. Maybe you pick up 5+ - on a h/c car.
Hey Drop Top, thanks for the tip. I'm going out tomorrow and get that hood seal. I've seen the guys recommend the one at Home Depot. Supposed to pull an extra horse versus the mail order ones. :D
