Is the AC# a paper filter? Unoiled? I had the K&N but when I checked it the last time I had oil streaks all over inside the air scoop and the TB was also very oily. I am concerned that they are over oiled and will gum up my MAF sensor and then the car will run like poopie. Anyone else experience this???
What are the dimensions of the K&N filter (no measuring the rubber seal)?
Just asking because a 346ci V8 reving to 6600rpm needs at least 110 square inches of minimum filter size.
346ci V8 reving to 7000rpm needs ~117 square inches.
To give you an idea here are a few:
ZR1 filter - 10x17 - 170si (enough for a 436cid past 8K)
LS1 Fbody - 14.5x6.5 - 94.25 (enough for the STOCK LS1 to 5700rpm)
C5 vette - ???
I'm just wondering because the above K&N filter crosses references as a 1974-1982 Triump TR-7 replacement filter and I'm a little concerned about size?
Yes, those numbers are the actual "filter area". Not the rubber surround.
That datebase is wrong. If the filter was only 1.75" wide it would fall into hole and I can assure you it is not 1.75" thick.
According to Vararam, they have to modify the K&N to fit their unit properly. This is what I had them do. I am now much more confident then when I had that flimsy piece of foam known as the "race filter" falling apart.
