I bought my kit from ls1howto this morning. While I wait Im wondering if the fuse pull tip really works and can it be done over and over. Ive tried to start my car 8 times since last night, 5 times it was fine and 3 it was locked. I just dont want to drive it anywhere until I know for sure that the fuse trick works. Thanks, Vince
Re: Just got the service column lock message. (Vinzvette)
Well, if your column is actually stuck, the fuse pulling may not do much for you.
What I'd recommend is:
1) wrestle with the steering wheel while turning the key on/off until it unsticks
2) Once it is unstuck, you may have a persistant "service column lock" message that appears. Pull fuse #25 for a little while and then reinstall it. That'll clear the error mode on the computer.
A local guy would manually unstick his steering wheel all the time...he got quite good at it and could wrestle a stuck wheel pretty quickly by the end. He finally got a CLB after a few weeks :)
