Default Will a heavier weight oil help my oil consumption?

I did a search and read some threds on it. Also, I talked with a few people at a car show about it, and Lingenfelter uses 15w50 in all their cars. I normally use 5w30 in my vette, and used that in my cobra for five years. The difference is that my '01 burning oil and the cobra didn't.

So would a heavier wieght oil help my consumption without hurting anything?

I tried the 15/50 Mobile 1 in mine, and it didn't help at all. Still burned just as much. The rings cured it thugh. Right now I have used 1 qt in 4000 miles, driving like a maniac, and now with a lot of speed parts also.

Looks like I'll have to bite the bullet and get the re-ring. Time for a new cam maybe!
