gear carrier?
I was talking to some racers yesterday and an issue that I am not up on came up. Can someone explain to me the difference in the carrier from GM for a 3.15 gears vs the 3.42? I hear if you upgrade a 3.15 to 3.42 that the weak link is your carrier. There is a stronger carrier that comes with the original 3.42's?
I guess what I am asking - I want to upgrade my gears from 3.15 to 3.42 or 3.73. What are the weak links once I do that?

All of the carriers from 3.15 up to and including 3.73 are the same. The 3.42 gears that come in the Z06 are shot peened for added strength, but the carries is still the same. As far as being a weak link this is the first time I am hearing about it.

2.73 carriers are series 2, 3.15 & higher are series 3. Contact Phil @ Dynotech. He is extremely knowledgeable and will be able to tell you the exact differences. I might also mention that I have a 3.42 complete carrier for sale from my 99 hardtop. :rolleyes: SCOTT
