Help! Tried to unscrew the shift **** and the entire shift lever started rotating. How do you remove the shift **** and did I screw up the shift lever?
Re: How do you remove the shift ****? (ifeeltheneedforspeed)
On the front side of the shift **** , you will find a small u-shaped clip, take a small screwdriver and pry it out and the **** will slide right off.
First, take the plastic center piece out of the top of the **** (small screwdriver and light pressure).
Second, use either a screwdriver or vise grips to pull the pin out of the ****/shaft assembly.
Third, unscrew the ****.
PS. The actual first think you should do is tighten the shifetr shaft while the original **** is still on. If you can't get it tight enough, you may have to wait until the ****/boot is off and use some red or blue Loctite (never, never, never use the green).
Long-winded, eh?

If you have the factory MN6 you have to first pop off the plastic shift pattern button on the top of the shifter, then you will see a metal pin on the backside of the shifter. It is hard to remove so get out the pliers and be patient. When the pin is out you simply unscrew the stock ****. :)
