Mobil would need to know your vehicle specifications for a proper recommendation.

I have a 99 Corvette. I using Mobil 1 synthetic oil in the engine. Can I use Mobil1 Synthetic ATF in the Transmision and Mobil 1 synthetic in the rear end? Do you make a limted slip addtive for the rear end ??

The ATF must be equal to DEXRON III , no not have GM Specification number. Rear Axle lubricant is GM Specification 9986115. GM part number 12378261
I would think a major manufacturer like Mobil would have access to this information.
Thanks for your request. Mobil 1 Synthetic ATF is a recommended product
for applications requiring GM DEXRON-III. We do not have a recommended
lubricant for the rear axle: procure from your dealer.
00TORCHCOUPE: I went ot their Web site posted the first qustion got the email response. The next day I replied to the first email and received the second e-mail attached to my first question posted on their Web site.
LUVINC5 is correct:
Means Mobil1 Synthetic ATF is ok to use in the tranny, but they won't state their diff. lube meets GM specs
I would recommend paying a visit to your local Redline distributor. They have a catalog that lists their recommended lubricants for every application. The Redline catalog references the GM transimission and rearend options codes and matches that with their specific synthetic lubricant. For instance, for the C5 MN6, option code XXXX, Redline recommends their Synthetic ATF D4 (not their "regular" ATF) for street and occasional race use, and their Synthetic MTF for racing applications. . . For the C5 differential, w/ option code XXXX, they recommend using their 75W-90 Synthetic gear oil. . .

Re: Mobil Walks Away (moncal90)
What is this email trying to say?
I just put Mobil 1 Syn ATF in my transmission this weekend, so far it works great. I don't know if I'm imagining this but I think she shifts better.
You're not imagining, there is a noticable improvement in shifting. I took mine in to the dealer, had the tranny system flushed (to include the TC fluid) and refilled with synthetic. I also had them use synthetic in the differential. I had the dealer do it so if there's ever a warranty issue due to a failure, there is documentation THEY did the servicing.
Steve02c5 The Mobil 1 tranny fluid is fine. I am suprised that dealer did not put in dexron III. In Easten PA Dexron III is all the dealers will install.
I personally am running Mobil 1 ATF and it is shifting better. I put is in myself.
I will be returning the Mobil 1 gear oil I purchased. The E-mails says the Mobil will not certify Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil meets the required GM specs. I will be looking to REDLINE or Amsoil for gear oil.
Do a search on differential oil and I you will find one thread that had a problem with Mobil 1 gear oil. :steering:
