Competitive Driving?????
I did look in the instruction manual. but can someone explain this to me?
thanks
Simply put, from a driving test I did on my '04 yesterday, you get a little more wheel spin and play in turns. I.E. you can slide a turn better without the safety systems kicking in instantly. But hey, I have only had the car 13 days and I am still learning it :)
The competitive driving mode disables the traction control, but the active handling function remains operational.
:iagree: :iagree:
:iagree: :iagree: :iagree: Allows you to spin tires in straight launches and helps control sliding in turns by braking to compensate. The traction control will actually cut out the throttle, the active handling will not (at least my experience). I am not a great driver yet, so during autocross I run in competitive mode.
It deactivates traction control so it doesn't reduce the throttle when wheel spin is detected so you can have more fun in a straight line. But it keeps active handling on to make correction if you try to do something stupid.
Active Handling= computer controls wheel slippage by appling the brakes.
Traction control= computer controls wheel slippage by reducing throttle responce.
Active Hand/ Traction Cont. off= both off
Active Hand./ Traction Cont. on= both on
Competative Driving Mode = Traction Cont. off and Active Handling on
The car is definitely more entertaining with the competitive mode enabled.
However, the downside to having the competitive driving mode on is the information center will only display this as a message, so you can't check your other digital information. I guess this is a safety precaution to keep you from forgetting it's set on competitive mode.

:nono: Hit the Reset button on your DIC. The message goes away. But, the icon in the cluster stays on as a reminder.
