SAE Correction Factor - What does it mean/do to HP ratings????
I have been on a dyno twice in 18 months. Once in Missouri (St Louis) and the other in Illinois just across the river. I'd say the facilities were 40 miles apart. Here's my question. In Missouri the facility used an SAE Correction Factor of .95 the facility in Illinois used a Correction Factor of 1.01 - why such a big difference? How does that affect the reported HP/TQ numbers?
My car produced 313 RWHP with the SAE of 1.01 what would the numbers be if he had used .95?
Looking at the mods in my signature I was expecting greater HP numbers.
This is importatnt since based on this last dyno pull I led to believe I need to have my tuned.
I was slightly rich my AFR's fell off to 11:7.0 so yes they could be improved some. I'm beginning to wonder if I need to find another dyno to get a second opinion on my car's health before spending $400 or more for an LS1Edit Tune.
Re: SAE Correction Factor - What does it mean/do to HP ratings???? (AFVETTE)
SAE correction factors basically standardize the reported HP/TQ. They take into account Ambient Temperature and Barometric Pressure, both effect air density and therefore engine output. A correction factor is unique in terms of time and place so you can't randomly interchange them. Hope this helps some.
