Who's had the diff spring a leak? I get a very few small drops on the floor, after a good afternoon of cruising. What was the problem, what fixed it & whom; I've got about 14k miles and 3.15's.
I found the bolts around the pan were loose on my automatic transmission.I tightened them up and it stopped the leak.I don't know if this is your problem, but its worth a try. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy
this is a common problem. my diff. is leaking and i will have it fixed soon. the inner seal goes on the C5's. i have only 5000 miles on mine and its five months old and the seal already went.
GM knows about this and will fix it for you. I have no faith in GM service anymore so i will go to my own mechaninc and try to have GM reimburse me. you may have had better luck with GM so you may want to go to a dealership for the repair.
just try to get it fixed soon. you may also want to put something down underneath the rear so it doesn't stain your driveway/garage floor.

:banghead: You may have a seal going bad or it could be coming from a small overflow valve. The dealership fixed it for me. :iagree:
Mine started leaking around 2,000 miles. Pathetic.. especially figuring my car was an audit/test car at the factory. Due to their ignorance in ignoring this problem that has happened for several years according to some insiders I'm considering letting the diff run dry and have them send me a new one, and have them pay for the labor to install a 3.42 diff and sell the brand new 3.15 they replace with :D
Last week I posted "I had a conversation with the C5 mechanic at my dealership today about the leak around the rear diff of my C5. I asked what the charge would be to replace the axel seal and he immediately asked whether I knew if the fluid was coming from the vent on the top of the diff or from the seal area around the axel. He said the design of the C5 rear diff places the gears so that during high speed sustained runs the gear "throws" the lubricant straight up at the location of the vent. He says GM is looking to change this design so this does not happen. He said that if I put my finger up on the top toward the driver side of the diff housing and feel for lubricant by the vent that this would tell me if it is a vent leak or a axel seal leak. I do notice the leak after high speed track events.
Thought I would just pass this along. My luck is that I have both maladies"
